Each of these stories was inspired by a different song from my favourite group,
Alphaville. The first and second were published
in Moonpaper (the official Alphaville fanzine), but the third only ever saw the light of day
on a CD-Rom I created for The Brentford Mercury (the now-official Robert Rankin fanzine),
even though it was written way back in 1996!

From 1994, this, my first ever published comic-strip, appeared in Phase Two magazine (published by the now
sadly-defunct Irish Science Fiction Association). The artist, Johnny Rothwell, also illustrated a couple of my short
stories for the ISFA. His striking images and his expert eye for detail made him an immediate hit with the readers,
and I wrote "Overman" with his skills in mind. To say that I was pleased with the results would
be a serious understatement...!

sold out - "By the Book" is a five-page comic strip written by yours truly (under my comics-writing pseudonym "Sprout")
and drawn by my good friend Bolt-01.
It's not directly connected to the New Heroes series, but I've decided to include it here because (a) lots
of people have been asking about it, and (b) because its basic premise is one that I was exploring while developing
the books.

"Deadline" isn't a superhero story, but what the heck, you might enjoy it anyway! One thing that
might be of particular interest to fans of the New Heroes is the name of the strip's main character:
Kord. Yes, that's where Solomon Cord got his name!
