Vortex joined The Chaingang considerably later than the other members and only participated in a couple of missions before she made the mistake of attacking Hesperus. That was her final mission: Vortex was badly injured, arrested and soon afterward her identity was leaked to the media...

Vortex was really Bianca Lela Krawczyk, a former glamour model who created the identity of Vortex in order to secretly take revenge on her rivals, whom she believed were sabotaging her career (a subsequent media investigation revealed that Krawczyk's suspicions were most likely correct).

After six years in prison Krawczyk was paroled and has since gone into hiding, though in recent years there have been persistent rumours that she is planning to write a "tell-all" biography of her time as a supervillain.

Costume:
Red boots, gloves, bustier and pants over a skin-tight grey uniform, specially made for Krawczyk by an apprentice designer at her former agency.
