Harry Harrison - prodigal propagator of fantastic fictions, wittiest of
wordsmiths, voluble vocalist, and -- with Joan -- most generous host of
hosts!
You arrived in my life, like a meteor, when I was still publishing with Gollancz, and appeared as a client soon after I became an agent in 1965. Other writers gave birth, if one's lucky, once a year or every other year or once in a decade. But you were from the start a golden goose, laying your eggs often twice in the same year, and with many treats like your comic masterpiece, TRANSATLANTIC TUNNEL, HURRAH! And, quite apart from the dependable fun of your company in the seventies and eighties, I shall never forget at the Dublin Con when you launched the World Science Fiction Convention, your and Joan's far-beyond-the-call-of-duty heroic Samaritan assistance to poor Bon. A very happy birthday, dear Harry, from Helge and Hilary
