Edited by Leon E. Stover and Harry Harrison.

From the Introduction: "Anthropology is the science of man. It tells the story from apeman to spaceman, attempting to describe in detail all the epochs of his continuing history... this is an anthology of speculation, fictional and non-fictional, and it owes equal credit to both science and art."

Note: The collection is divided into two parts: 'Man...' and '...and His Works," relating to physical and cultural anthropology respectively. In a 47-page afterword, Stover examines 'some of the points of interest' and puts each of the stories and articles into context within the field of anthropology.
